Kid Cache Rules

Found it Mom

The Kid Caches are just for the kids that come to the picnic. These caches are are full of toys and trinkets that any kid will want to trade for. Usually there are about 25 or so Caches that are placed just for the kids.
Every year both parents and kids alike say how much fun they have doing the Kids Only caches, and every year it always brings something special to the picnic.

Rules in no particular order...

  1. The age range for the kid caches are 0-16.

  2. The kids need to have complete control over the GPS unit. Unless they are like 2 years old and don't know how to use one.

  3. They are allowed to look where ever they want to without help from an adult even if they look right at it. This is where the fun on your (adult) end begins. If the child is under 4 and they really have no idea what they are doing you may say something like "Hay did you look over here?"  but try and not give it away to much. The fun part is watching them look all over for them. There is the exception to safety of course.

  4. The Kids Caches are not to be logged by the adults, only the Kids. If the child doesn't have there own official geocacher name they may use there real name in its place. Or they may try and think of there own geocacher name before the event and then write in the log book there new Geocacher name.

  5. There will be a special Kid Cache for infants setup for parents that are expecting or have a child at home, if the adults would like to do this cache. This cache will be out with the kid caches, please let your child know that this cache is for babies and they may trade something if they are going to give it to a baby. They may also bring something for a baby if they want to place something in the container.

  6. These caches move yearly. They are placed in new locations each year depending on where we hold the event.

  7. The logbooks will be the same log books from the previous year. It is with hopes that these logs will be around for a long long time. Maybe in time all of the Kid Caches will hold log books from parents that did these caches when they were kids.

  8. The Difficulty and Terrain rating for the kid caches is usually no more then a D-3 T-2 1/2. These are meant to be fun, not discouraging.

  9. The Kid Caches are NOT logable Geocaches because the 0.1 mi distance does not apply to theses caches. There may be a kid cache hidden less then 100 ft from each other. That's what makes these caches so fun for the kids.

  10. Please do not place any T.B.'s or Geocoins in the kid caches.
